In the framework of the project “Small ports every 30 miles apart – Development of services for lively water tourism in the Eastern Gulf of Finland“ from July 14 to August 20, 2017 the training on the topic of tourist safety on waters was held. This training was free of charge for everyone and took place in Joaorg recreation area right on the bank of the Narva River.
Six groups registered for training. 66 people completed the training and received a certificate of completion; mostly they were children aged 6 to 14, but adults also actively participated in the training. It was sufficiently thorough and organized in such a way that each participant of the training completed it in 3 days.
All participants obtained theoretical and practical knowledge on the following topics:
- general safety and safe behavior on water objects;
- first-aid;
- use of rescue equipment.
Participants of the training were told about rescue equipment, demonstrated how to use it, taught basics of first-aid, and also provided useful information on peculiarities and threats of local waters- the Narova and the Baltic Sea, as well as stories about specific cases of rescuing people on the waters.
During the training organizers noticed genuine interest and active participation of both yougth and adults.
The training was held on the order of the Narva Department for Development and Economy by Narva- Jõesuuvabatahtlikmere- jajääpäästeüksus volunteer rescue organization.
